Find a manufacturer for your product
You might have a finished specification, a prototype, or just a clear idea of what needs making. The first step is to turn that into a brief manufacturers can actually respond to.
Start with what the factory needs to know
Materials, dimensions, tolerances, quantities, packaging, destination and target timing change the search. So do the processes you need: fabrication, assembly, filling, finishing or something more specialised. If those details are not settled, I can help identify the questions that matter before approaching anyone.
- What is fixed, and what could change?
- Is this a first production run or an established repeat order?
- Do you need a manufacturer, an assembler or a trading supplier?
A shortlist is a starting point, not a sign-off
I research likely manufacturers, look for evidence of relevant production capability, and ask targeted questions about fit and practical constraints. A company’s website or directory listing alone is not proof that it makes the product itself.
You and the proposed manufacturer should then confirm samples, technical requirements, testing, quality arrangements, price, capacity and contract terms directly. Acorn makes a researched commercial introduction; it does not approve a product or act as your engineer.
Where the search can go wrong
A broad request sent to hundreds of factories often produces quotes that cannot be compared. A better first pass distinguishes essential requirements from preferences and rules out businesses that cannot meet the basics. If a proposed route looks weak, I would rather explain why than force a match.
